Brooke is involved in a ton of sports this summer.  Becca is sticking with just soccer.  Both girls go to speed camp each morning (Monday-Thursday) ALL summer long.  Becca has to go to the high school that consists of 87 students.  8 of them are girls.  The rest are large male football players.  When Becca went this past Wednesday, she was the only girl that was there.  It was intimidating for her to say...

More of a 12 year old birthday

June 24, 2012

Brooke never really got to have a “birthday party” or so she says.  There wasn’t 8 little girls running around the upstairs to all hours of the night type of party but we still had a few get-togethers. Brooke was sick so it cancelled her scheduled party.  But, I feel certain she had a good time. We took a friend to Bentwater to spend the day with Mimi and Gramps…  Our little girl turned...

Turning 12 with pneumonia

May 28, 2012

We have made it through the holiday weekend and Brooke’s birthday is today.  My beautiful, full of life, bucket of laughs, amazing 12-year-old daughter!!  You have been a ton of fun these past 12 years.  You came out running and haven’t slowed down.  I don’t think pneumonia slowed you down for more than a couple of days.  Its rough being sick on your birthday. Everything you do makes me proud.  Your mom and sister,...

Fires, Soccer, Trophys, and a Stand Alone Mustache

What a weekend of Labor Free…  HA.  We headed out this past Friday on a road trip that will send us to Austin, Texas for Brooke’s Labor Day Soccer Tournament.  Passing through Giddings, TX we stopped at an old restaurant in the center of town that had home cooked meals and a banjo picker with a ZZ-Top beard trying to sing ballads.  The music was fun, the food was good, and the singing was...

104 degree heat and 11 year old girls playing soccer!

Was an interesting weekend.  The opening weekend to our U12 soccer season with Challenge.  The temperature has been over 100 degrees now for 20 something days (setting records here in Houston), the lakes and ponds are all drying up due to a historic drought, and all the grass on the fields is dead.  But, no… we went forward with soccer.  Luckily the first game was at high noon so it wasn’t quite the hottest...

Photo Shoot for the Girls

Last weekend we met the Gonzalez family at The Woodlands for a photo shoot for their family.  It was a hot day but we were able to get some pretty decent shots.  The Gonzalez girls and my girls are the best of friends.  Great to see them clowning and having a ball. This past week has been a bear.  Work kicking it into high gear.  I had 2 family photo shoots during the weekend…....

A Teaspoon of Sugar

A Teaspoon of Sugar

I have been dealing with teenagers for years at work.  It is easy to relate to them, help them, counsel, or even breakthrough.  This is a gift I have had for years.  I sometimes don’t appreciate it. At home, forget the gift. Your own kids are much much more complicated than the rest.  You have a personal attachment.  There is a sense that you are responsible so this causes you not to think clearly. ...

Bam Bam earns the nickname

First weekend of the spring season.  The new routine for me.  As many of you know I decided to no longer coach/manage Brooke’s soccer team.  This is allowing me to see Becca and Brooke’s games.  Saturday morning I was able to take Becs to her game which she tied 0-0 against a tough Aggieland team.  We jumped in the truck and drove over to Brooke’s game. Brooke was playing Monty’s B-Red team.  A group...
