Family Gatherings

How many of you make a point to meet your extended family for dinner? How many of you actually sit with your immediate family for dinner? These are questions that Trena and I often ask ourselves.  One of my favorite shows on television is called Blue Bloods. Maybe its just that I have a man-crush on Tom Selleck?  Regardless, he is the ultimate stud.  Every Sunday the entire family meet at Tom’s character’s house...

Obama and the Stolen Teleprompter

Obama and the Stolen Teleprompter

This story was too rich for me to pass up.  I try to stay out of politics on this blog due to people who know me personally may get upset when I bad-mouth a certain president who likes his teleprompters. Obama had his vehicle out from of the hotel in Richmond, Virginia stolen.  The vehicle contained approximately $200,000 worth of sound equipment and his ever important…. TELEPROMPTERS. What is the man going to do...

The mystic of mystery shopping

13-14 years ago Trena became pregnant with our first child, Rebecca.  The year was 1997.  The internet was new, email was becoming popular, and we were broke.  Trena just announced that she was going to quit teaching and stay home with and raise babies.  I was still waiting on a big promotion at work and we were eating Lipton Noodles with cut-up hotdogs. Trena comes up with a great idea.  I can’t remember where...

Remembering poems as a child

One of my first books I can really remember reading is Shel Silverstein’s, Where the Sidewalk Ends. Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind.Let us leave this place where the smoke blows...

Fires, Soccer, Trophys, and a Stand Alone Mustache

What a weekend of Labor Free…  HA.  We headed out this past Friday on a road trip that will send us to Austin, Texas for Brooke’s Labor Day Soccer Tournament.  Passing through Giddings, TX we stopped at an old restaurant in the center of town that had home cooked meals and a banjo picker with a ZZ-Top beard trying to sing ballads.  The music was fun, the food was good, and the singing was...

I tell you what… I was so sick of Hurricane Irene coverage this past weekend all throughout the East coast.  We have been living and breathing hurricanes for years down here in Houston.  New Orleans basically went underwater before the country decided to pay attention.  It pays to be New York.  A little rain and a few inches of water crests over a boardwalk and the entire country is mesmerized by the drama unfolding...

High School Wild Field Trips

Surfing around reading other blogs, I stopped at a guy’s page who wrote a great movie review 25 years too late, About Writing .  He finally got around to viewing one of the best all time movies, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  Now this movie is one of my all time favorites.  As I said on this guy’s blog, I spent my high school life trying to be Ferris Bueller mixed with Alex P. Keaton from Family...

I think my butt is wet

February 13, 2011

This was the saying of the night, “I think my butt is wet.” Trena and I went out on the town for Valentine’s Day.  We had 8:45 reservation at McCormick’s and Schmidt down at Uptown Park.  We headed out for a night on the town.  Trena and I were sitting having a romantic evening at the table when I sneezed.  Somehow the sneeze caused the button on my slacks to pop off.  I lean...

ATT customer service is rough

February 9, 2011
By

Lets see if I can give you a time line of my experience with ATT. Thursday 2/3/11 - Service goes out.  Not sure why or how.  We do not have access to internet or UVerse tv. Friday 2/4/11 - Was able to request service.  I have been down this road many times so I explain to the overly friendly phone tech that I do not need to test my equipment.  All the lights were on...
